Calepino

Calepino makes possibly the best notebooks I know of. I love their true A5 brightly-coloured threadbound books with a nice chipboard cover and an inner cover page.

The paper is very high quality and has super-light tan-coloured lines (when lined), and my pencils drag perfectly and even the poorer pencils appear dark and black on the page.

My only complaint is the white-white paper , as I prefer a more cream colour, but honestly the quality of the paper means we can overlook things like this.

Their shipping is quick and courteous and I even get personalized notes from the packing agent. All of this for a price which, given some of the high-end notebook price-points we see at specialty stationers like Baron Fig, Field Notes and Write, it’s reasonable.

I can’t recommend this brand enough. Best of all, they also offer some very fine #2 pencils that are nothing special, but are made in France and still feel curiously American…
