1912 Amax Stationery

On my Instagram feed, I follow a lot of stationery store blogs. Not just the stores I’ve personally shopped at or bought stuff from, but sometimes just ones that post pleasant pictures or cool items. One of these is 1912 Amax Stationery, a company in the Vancouver area with two outlets specializing in Japanese products.

I’ve often watched many of the journalers on YouTube and Instagram use tape-adhesive applicators in their projects, and tried some of this myself with a recent purchase from Stationery Pal. I loved the stuff and burned through it quickly. So I was pleased to see these very cute “Nordic Forest Animals” limited edition Kokuyo Dotliners on 1912 Amax’s feed. I tried to find any outlets that carried them near to me, and the only place I saw with even a listing was Amazon.jp, and even they had none in stock.

1912 Amax does not currently have an ecommerce platform, and so I wasn’t able to just order the Dotliners on their website. So instead I sent them a message on Instagram. I was given a quick reply and very friendly service. It was almost like having a personal shopper, as their representative also sent me pictures of various other products I might be interested in, and I chose a couple extras before closing up and paying the order. What’s best about this arrangement is that we could pay Interac and make it a fully Canadian transaction.

The additional products I received included this interesting standing presentation folder and self-inking emoji stamper. The folder was a little awkward and I found the strength of the support mechanism questionable even with the folder pages empty. When they’re full I really doubt the thing will reliably stand.

The emoji stamper was cute, but not super useful. the stamps are TINY. Not sure exactly what I’ll use them for but it was a fun thing to get. I think 1912 Amax should try to get an ecommerce presence in the near future, as their unique selection gives them an edge over many other sellers in the stationery space. In the meantime, I highly recommend visiting them if you’re in the Vancouver area or messaging them on social media for a kind and custom client experience.
